Vibrant contemporary jazz with a flamenco tinge, by one of the main piano voices of the new Spanish jazz generation, who will premiere his band in The Netherlands.
âJazz and flamenco are brothers,â says Daniel GarcĂa Diego one of the most important pianists in the current jazz scene in Spain. For his album Travesuras he dug deep into the music of his native country and combined it with the vocabulary of the modern jazz trio, with outstanding energy and virtuosity. The result is an expressive personal style in which rhythmic intensity go hand in hand with melodic wealth and harmonic finesse.
Daniel GarcĂa Diego (Salamanca, 1983) studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston with Panamanian Grammy winner Danilo PĂ©rez, who became world famous as the pianist in Wayne Shorterâs band. PĂ©rez became his mentor and played an important role in his development. Daniel GarcĂa Diego will now finally premiere his band in The Netherlands in this very special 8th online edition of the Dutch Flamenco BiĂ«nnale 2021.
