A marriage of cultures, eras and styles that can only rarely be experienced: AySay create music that transcends all artificial boundaries and genre conventions and creates something completely new, combining Anatolian folk with Nordic electronica. In GROUNDS they will take us on a Middle Eastern journey through Scandinavian landscapes.

Growing up between the Danish and Kurdish roots of her parents, mastermind Luna Bßlow Ersahin fell in love with the sound of Arabic lutes at an early age, especially with the mystical elegance of the oud and the baglama. Together with her bandmates Carl West Hosbond and Aske Døssing Bendixen, she makes this love the constitutive feature of the idiosyncratic AySay sound, incorporating synthesisers, bass guitars, flutes and a whole range of carefully selected samples. If Altin Gßn, AURORA and Eivør sat down and wrote a song together, it would be the sound of AySay.

The result is nothing less than pure magic that defies clear categorisation, sometimes sounding psychedelic to avant-garde, but then again dedicated to the traditional sounds of Kurdistan.  It was not for nothing that the renowned Danish GAFFA magazine gave the debut album ‘Su Akar’ (2021) the highest rating and raved about an unforgettable experience. AySay’s second album ‘KÖY’ (October 2023), with its pop-heavy productions and elements of Anatolian psych-rock, creates a universe in which Danish, Turkish and Kurdish merge seamlessly and folk songs are given new life.
