WAVEFEST PRESENTS: DESINTERESSE + THE ESSENCE + CLAN OF XYMOX
This Saturday, Wavefest will take place in GROUNDS, Rotterdam. Three well-known names from the Dutch new wave scene will take the stage tonight and of course DJ CO2 will provide the appropriate musical accompaniment.

CLAN OF XYMOX (NL/DE darkwave)
Since its foundation in 1981 in Nijmegen, Clan of Xymox has been a major player in the international wave & gothic scene. The music of Clan of Xymox often explores themes such as love, loss and introspection, and is known for its melancholic and atmospheric melodies. In addition to their big 80s hits such as Stranger, Back Door and A Day, the band easily plays various songs from their 18 (!) studio albums. In 2024, the band, led by wave icon Ronny Moorings, will release 2 more albums: Exodus and the remix album ‘Blood Of Christ’. COX will close this edition of Wavefest presents with an arsenal of dark yet danceable songs.

THE ESSENCE (NL new wave)
The Essence is also no stranger to Rotterdam, spread over several decades the band has stood on the boards of the Baroeg stage. The Essence has been active since the early 80s and have given hundreds of international performances. Hans (vocals/guitar), George (drums) and Mark (bass/keyboard) bring their greatest hits this evening such as A Mirage, Only for you and The Cat.

DESINTERESSE (NL darkwave)
Desinteresse is a Dutch coldwave act consisting of Bart (bass), Joppe (drums) and Sem (vocals/synth/guitar). As a duo, they released their debut album ”Voor Altijd’ (April 2023) and the EP ‘Ik Wil Dood Als Ik Het Vergeet’ (November 2023) on cassettes. Their most recent release is the 7” single ‘Grijze Dromen’ (August 2024). All releases so far have been released on their own label ‘DECADENCE’. They do this with original equipment from the previous century, as a form of art, expression and identity. Cold, abandoned and non-existential feelings characterize the dark and minimalistic music of Desinteresse. After the 12th edition of Wavefest in the Maassilo, Desinteresse will also kick off this evening in GROUNDS.
