Orea Parea is a trio formed in 2021 and brings the vibrant folk sound of Greece to the Netherlands. They blend folk, pop, and traditional music to recreate the nostalgic taverna atmosphere of old movies and timeless gatherings, while also playing both classic and contemporary folk tunes. Their debut single “Orea Parea” is an energetic piece set to the lively chasaposerviko dance rhythm, which they will perform live, along with other hits, at Lab.

Yiannis Ikonomou (guitar, voice) is a singer and songwriter with extensive experience on the Dutch music scene. He has a rich repertoire featuring iconic Greek songs from renowned artists such as Parios, Dalaras, Mitropanos, Terzis, Remos, Vertis, Rokos, and many others. He has a strong background in composing his own pieces, with the lyrics and music of “Orea Parea” being his own creation. His latest release, “Archontissa tou Anemou,” has just come out.

Michalis Zarmakoupis (bouzouki, voice), a talented iOS engineer by day and a devoted musician by heart, brings the soulful sounds of the bouzouki to Orea Parea. With a deep love for Greek tradition, he has crafted a unique method to teach bouzouki to those new to music, inviting them to connect with the rich heritage that inspires the group.

Pelagia Tsiachri Renta (voice), originally from a northern Greek village, blends Greek traditional, rebetiko, Ottoman music, and pop-folk. Now based in the Netherlands, she performs with various bands and works as a vocal coach. With an engineering background and a specialization in Ottoman music at Codarts, she is also delving into music pedagogy to share her passion for music.
